A recent Canadian based study was done that showed cancer costs the average patient over $2500 a month in out of pocket expenses. In brutal honesty… cancer does cost a fortune. My personal credit cards are spitting hell fire from this past year of survival. Cancer and or many other disabilities can sometimes really interfere with being able to receive all we need or deserve! We need a boost now and agaIn that says someone gives a ….*bleep, and unfortunately some do not always readily have that support system or enough finances readily available. Within this program I will be setting aside at least 10% of profits in addition to the donation funds… and as we get underway and funds become available will take referrals from the local cancer centres social support team and from others to brighten some spirits and help spread care for others to receive a CARE❤️BAG gift bag that they otherwise might not have had access to. This specific outreach project is included amongst our other Gifts of Care initiatives listed below.
If you care to donate to this specific fund “Bags that Care,“ you can do so from the link at the bottom of this page.
A portion of CAREBAG profits go directly to create “Kindness Kits”. These Kits are a beautiful way to spread some LOVE, care , and positive energy to those who may not have the support system or funds to receive a purchased care package or gift bag or even have the most basic essentials to get through the day, a hospital stay comfortably or are facing other life challenges such as food insecurity, poverty, abuse, mental health struggles, and/or homelessness.
Periodically, at the peak times of need; and when either funds or extra donations of materials exist…these kits will be made with love and distributed by CARE❤️BAG that include positive affirmations, gifts of personal essentials, and toiletries to reach out to those in the community who need a gentle hand up the most!
If you are interested in providing extra support for this specific initiative please contact me to donate supplies towards the kits.
Please also see the “upcoming” blog post titled “Kindness Kits” for the complete list of toiletries we need to collect to get this initiative going strong HERE!
In the works under The Gifts of Care Program umbrella is another exciting project… I will be hosting the first of many appointments hopefully by the beginning of the new year. I have been collecting donations and along with my own large collection of brand new unused and/or very gently used cancer related items will be setting up and hosting space for ladies or gentlemen who are experiencing cancer to get an item(s) they may need AT NO COST for their upcoming surgery or treatments. I am collecting wigs, hats, mastectomy pillows, new thermometers, unused surgical drain belts, button down tops, seatbelt covers, OTC topicals and more.
If you have items to donate to this project of care please let me know via my email:
If you can assist in sewing please also contact me as I have a pattern for mastectomy pillows and no ability to sew myself… I would however love to share cost of materials and distribute.
Much more to follow on how to participate and a list of whats most needed for those who wish to donate will be posted soon on the blog titled “Support items for breast and other cancers” ; HERE.
I have created a list of products that worked for me this past year for the milder side effects of chemotherapy treatments and other uses such as after surgery. These specific items are past the scope of what my curated bags can currently offer and are merely MY recommendations, I am not an affiliate nor an expert of any kind, this list holds no monetary gain. Yes of course, please shop local on things if and whenever you can but honestly know many employed by this major company as well. You may not need all of these items but have personally been used and approved for one reason or another during my recent rollercoaster ride of breast cancer… link attached HERE
*Always seek the advice of a physician before using any products that may interfere with medical treatment.
I’ve experienced and live with cancer, therefore I know “some extra, you wish you didn’t need to know but know” stuff… please see my list of programs and support groups. If you believe your group or organizations name is missing from this LIST please let us know you wish to be added. (Please note: This list is mainly for NO COST SERVICES only). In the future I would love to add more support organizations for mental health and other health related reasons as well in addition to cancer. Let’s help more people!!!
If you would like your organization or program added to our resources list please CONTACT US!
At CAREBAG we really try to think of everything therefore realize not everyone is on the world wide Webster. We have obtained and ordered some fantastic printed materials from many helpful organizations and will list what we have on hand on this page soon. If you have a loved one who could use materials from the Cancer Society or CAMH I will happily add them inside of your CAREBAG! I believe everyone should have access to resources and information that may make their journey on this rollercoaster ride of life just a touch better.
ATTENTION CARE FOCUSED ORGANIZATIONS & PROGRAMS: Do you have an organization that assists cancer, mental health, grief, or even our elders in general? We have information from some great organizations that offer assistance to patients included in our cancer and mindfulness related Carebags and would be interested in hearing from others who would like to participate by suppling us some information pamphlets, please email us@ Contact.carebag@gmail.com for our mailing address. 💞Thank you
If you can’t find it, it doesn’t exist. Many have missed out on a premium discounted barbering service for those in active treatments for cancer that my husband Anthony offers... Anthony’s Classic Mobile Barbershop also offers house call haircut and shave services all around central york region including inside Southlake Hospital and also operates a part time studio practically RIGHT NEXT DOOR here in Newmarket! I have added the link to his webpage for more information on the program and all of his mobile services if you or someone you know may be interested.
